Sky Mobile partners with Doro. We go up-close with the Doro 8050
We’ve longed covered the elderly-friendly Doro phones. They come with great features such as a friendly and easy-to-understand interface, a step-by-step setup guide and remote help via the MyDoro app.
These phones aren’t just all about bigger text and louder sound, but they’ve also tuned audio frequencies for older ears and made the phones grippy and shock resistant. They come with big, high-contrast screens and close friends or family members can access your phone to fix or help with problems, like if the battery has run out or if the phone is set to silent.
An assistance button, shown here on the 8050, can easily alert and call your nearest and dearest, with GPS coordinates automatically sent if there’s a problem.
Sky Mobile, operating on the O2 network, have partnered with Doro to bring both the Doro 8050 smartphone and Doro 7030 feature phone to their customers.
The Doro 7030 is available via Sky Mobile from £9 per month and the Doro 8050 is available from £13 per month.
These phones are uniquely suited to meet the needs of the over 65s, with Paul Sweeney, Managing Director at Sky Mobile, telling us…
We know staying connected to family, friends and loved ones is important to all our customers. Bringing Doro’s phones to our range will keep more of our customers connected when they can’t be together.
The Doro 7030 is a clamshell feature phone with both 4G and WiFi capability.
It gets WhatsApp and Facebook preinstalled and comes with a GPS-enabled Assistance button, loud and clear sound, easy-to-read display and text, easy-to-use camera, large, clear buttons and a headphone jack.
The Doro 8050 that we have here looks design-wise like a lot of modern smartphones, however there’s some clever UI changes to help tailor the experience to older users. These include adding labels to each icon, step by step navigation, having a single homepage and much more.
These changes keep actions clear and navigation straight forward – avoiding more abstract concepts to streamline the user experience.
The 8050 also includes the GPS-assistance button, loud and clear (HAC) sound, a dedicated home button (which I strangely miss on most other smartphones), easy-to-read text, a 5.45 clear and bright 1440 x 720 resolution display, 4G and WiFi, 13 megapixel rear camera, 5 megapixel front and 16GB of internal storage plus a 3,000mAh battery.
Both phones get the “My Doro Manager” to let loved ones and relatives to access the phone remotely.
As you can see from the photos here, the setup and unboxing process is made ultra-simple by asking your straightforward questions about your smartphone knowledge.
